Joe Sharpe enters his sixth season as the head athletic trainer for the Thunder. Before joining the Thunder organization, Sharpe spent four seasons as head athletic trainer for the Charlotte Bobcats. Prior to Charlotte, Sharpe was the head strength and conditioning coach/assistant athletic trainer with the Minnesota Timberwolves for two seasons, which included the team’s Midwest Division title and run to the Western Conference Finals.
 
In the summer of 2012 Sharpe served as an Athletic Trainer for the gold medal winning men’s USA Basketball Olympic team. In London, Sharpe joined Thunder players Kevin Durant, James Harden and Russell Westbrook as the United States team went a perfect 8-0 en route to the gold medal.  During the summer of 2010 Sharpe served as an Athletic Trainer for the USA Men’s National team as they competed in the FIBA World Championships in Turkey. The USA team won gold while qualifying for the 2012 Olympic Games. Sharpe had previously worked with the USA Basketball men’s junior national teams in 2002
and 2008, and the men’s senior national team in 2009. .
 
He worked as part of the United States Olympic Committee medical staff at the Lake Placid Olympic Training Center in 2002, and traveled to Thailand in 2007 for The University World Games. 
 
During the summer of 2007, Sharpe participated in the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders camp held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
 
Sharpe was previously the head basketball athletic trainer at the University of Connecticut during a nine year stint with the Huskies that included its 1999 NCAA Championship season.
 
Joe and his wife, Jennifer, have two children, Joseph and Jayme.
