Rayhan Malik is the Head Athletic Trainer for the Toronto Raptors. A dual-credentialed clinician in athletic therapy and strength and conditioning, Rayhan's role involves immediate medical care, integrative rehabilitation services, and injury reduction strategies.
Prior to joining the Raptors, Rayhan spent four seasons with the Raptors 905, the Toronto Raptor’s NBA G-League Affiliate as the Head Athletic Trainer. Before joining the Toronto Raptors organization, Rayhan served as an athletic therapist for Team Ontario’s U-17 Boys’ Basketball team, York University’s Men’s Rugby Team, and a variety of multidisciplinary clinics across Toronto.
Rayhan studied at York University where he completed his BSc with Honours in Kinesiology as well as the Athletic Therapy Certificate Program in 2015. He then went on to complete a Masters of Health Science with a Specialization in Athletic Training at the University of St. Augustine in 2019. Currently, he is in the process of obtaining a Doctorate of Education with a Specialization in Athletic Training from the University of St. Augustine.
In addition, he is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Functional Movement Screening Specialist, Registered Kinesiologist, and a Neurofunctional Acupuncture Provider.
These invaluable experiences have allowed Rayhan the opportunity to refine his skills and have given him the knowledge and insight in order to be a versatile and well-rounded therapist.

Giovanni (Gio) Sardella studied at York University where he completed his BSc with Honours in Kinesiology as well as the Athletic Therapy Certificate Program in 2012. While attending York University, Gio had the opportunity to work with many teams as a student athletic therapist. Gio has worked with York’s Varsity Track and Field team, York’s Varsity Football team, and Humber College’s Varsity Men’s Basketball and Men’s Rugby teams, winning the OCAA Men’s Rugby Championship in 2011.
The skills and knowledge Gio has gained from the athletic therapist program at York University allowed him to work in a variety of different settings. Outside of York University, Giovanni has had the opportunity to work as an athletic therapist for Team Canada’s U-15 Boys’ Soccer team, the TFC Academy and the CFL Toronto Argonauts, winning the 100th Grey Cup in 2012.
The Toronto, Ontario native was named Assistant Athletic Trainer of the Toronto Raptors on July 2017 after serving as the head athletic trainer for the Raptors 905 for two years (2015-2017). His tenure with the 905 was highlighted by a D-League Championship in 2017. In 2019, Gio became an NBA Champion, winning the Larry O’Brien Trophy with the Toronto Raptors.
These invaluable experiences of winning 3 different titles with three different teams/organizations have allowed Gio the opportunity to refine his skills and have given him the knowledge and insight in order to be a versatile and well-rounded therapist. He is a certified Kinesiologist, certified member of the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association and is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a certified strength and conditioning specialist. Giovanni has served as the D-League Trainers Association Vice President and D-League Eastern Conference Head Athletic Trainer for the D-league All-Star Game in 2017 in New-Orleans.
Giovanni continues to seek out new opportunities to apply his knowledge, skills and enthusiasm to assist athletes to perform at their very best.
